Today, December 21st is my last day in Broadcast Technology 1. Eighth grade year when I was picking my classes I was unsure about this class, but my mom convinced me to take it. It has been a fun, stressful, and exciting experience. Every white and ram day I looked forward to coming to Broadcast Tech 2 because there was never a dull moment especially in 2nd hour. Although there were days that I was extremely frustrated because my videos wouldn't download, my computer wouldn't work, etc. I still loved the feeling I got when all my footage and hardwork was finally put together. My favorite part about this class was how much we got to work on our own. We were given the assignment, taught everything we needed to know about it, and then we were sent off on our own to figure it out. Broadcast is definitely a skill that is easier to figure out on your own. I wish I would've been more creative with my vidoes. I think I often settle with my videos and footage being good when really they can be great. I would definitely consider Broadcast Tech 2 my sophomore year, because I would love to learn more and continue to get better at this skill. Anyone who is interested in Broadcast, or is looking for a fun elective to take please consider Mr. Goble's Broadcast Tech 1 class.
The Ladue women's basketball team was taking their weekly trip to the Fifth Grade Center for practice when students began to chant Trump! The situation got completely out of hand and the comment, "Black kids go to the back of the bus" was made. One of the girls basketball players did not take the comment well, and stood up for herself. On November 12th, a protest was held outside of Ladue High School. The Ladue Women's Basketball team decided not to participate, because emotions were high and they felt that sitting out would be best. On November 13th, the Ladue Women's Basketball team decided to participate in the second protest. They wanted to help the rest of the Ladue students hold a PEACEFUL protest and let them know that the women's team has their back. The girls stood in the front of the protest with their jumpsuits on proud to represent Ladue High School. The Ladue Women's Basketball team has decided that these incidents will be a motivation for their team this season, not a distraction.
We were taught lots of things about interviewing, and then we were told to go out and find a expert to interview. I chose to interview my dad. My father is the reason that my brother, and I play basketball everyday. When my brother was younger my dad started a basketball program, so that my brother could have a competitive team to play on. When I was in 2nd grade I told my dad that I wanted to play basketball like my big brother. My parents signed me up for a Church team. I had never played basketball so they thought a recreational team would be perfect for me. I was TERRIBLE, but there was this fire that built up inside of me, and I just really wanted to get better. The sport made me happy, and I knew on my worst days I could count on it to turn my frowns upside down. I started to get better and my parents decided I needed to be playing on a serious team, so my dad started his own girls team. Go check out my interview to find out more on why and how my father started his own basketball program.
Today in class our teacher had us watch some On the Road Everybody Has A Story videos by Steve Hartman. I'm not an emotional person but two of these videos made me tear up. These videos start off by just introducing you to the characters of the story and a broad explanation of what the story might be about. After you know the characters, and have hints to the story you learn more about these characters. You eventually see what the story really is about, and then you see why this story was important. Which leads me to explain my title. "Hey, You, See, So" is a phrase that a man came up with to help create films and produce interviews. The hey is the introduction of the story. The you is the part of the story where you learn about the characters. The see is the part of the story where you see what the story is actually about. The so is where you find out why that story is important. I believe Steve Hartman's videos are so successful, because he does an amazing job of using "Hey, You, See, So". When you first start watching his stories you have no idea what they are going to be about. The beginning of most of them actually makes you wonder why in the world this video is going to be important, but by the time you get to the end you will feel some type of way.

I honestly really loved this project, and I would do it a thousand times again. My classmates and I shared our ideas with each other, and they gave me some great input. The four six word stories I had in mind were "Sit down somewhere, focus on yourself.", "Humble. But aware of my value.", "I care. But you'll never know.", and "It's okay. Not to be okay." I chose "I care. But you'll never know.", because I often care about things but I never show it. For some reason I feel like showing it makes you a weaker person. I have this brick wall up, and I refuse to let anyone break it down. I never cry in front of anyone or show them any emotion. When I am sad or upset I choose to put on a fake smile so no one will ever know.
I've never experienced bullying, but I have had people say some really harsh things to me in the past. I never showed any emotion when people said these things. I would just laugh about it then show my emotion when I was home and alone. As I grow up I learn that hiding the feelings won't do anything but make you hurt more ! I am very excited about my six word story, because I was able to express myself through six great shots. Please go to the videos page, and check out my six word story video! Our first official video experience was the video scavenger hunt we did. We were able to use our creativity while learning all of the different shots you're required to know for this class. The different shots we had to shoot were wide shots, tight shots, medium shots, and WALDO.
It was very interesting because this scavenger hunt wasn't about who finished first. It was about who shot all of the shots correctly. My two partners and I were able to take our time, and make sure we got all of the shots that we wanted. After we finally completed the scavenger hunt we had to edit our videos. We added titles, filters, etc. Which is why the project went from a video scavenger hunt to a circus wagon. I just received an assignment that requires me to make a six word story video. This project really has me thinking. The six word story in the title is the famous story created by Ernest Hemingway. A six word story is only six words but they tell a very deep story, and you'll never really know what that story is.
"For sale: Baby shoes. Never worn.", could really mean anything. I did some research, and many have come to the conclusion that it means a family had a miscarriage, and they are selling the shoes they bought for their baby. For my six word story I was thinking about making it about focusing on myself. Lately I haven't been focused on the right things, and because of that I have been dealing with some serious consequences. I really like this project so I will be blogging about it a lot, and I will also be posting the finished product. Stay tuned! My I AM video is now on my site. My Broadcast Technology class and I have been working on these videos for a week now and they are finally ready. I am very excited to finally publish it. By watching the video you will learn a lot about me and what I love to do. The I AM video is just a summary of my life. Go check it out!
